Workforce Housing

In response to the housing crisis locally, The Almanor Foundation has formed a Housing Council, a vested stakeholder working group tasked with planning action steps towards achieving attainable work-force housing within Plumas County. Following the federally declared 2021 Dixie Fire disaster (4610-DR-CA), and in conjunction with a larger state and federal crisis, focus is being placed on the areas most impacted, namely, Indian Valley, Canyon Dam, Chester and Quincy, California.

The Housing Council is comprised of public and private interest groups, non-voting government agency representatives, and local Mountain Maidu tribal groups who are in desperate need of work-force housing. By collaborating monthly, Housing Council members are finding best methods forward to increased housing, applying methodology that is community focused and consortium driven.

Initial planning work details include case and feasibility studies done by LMNOP Design Inc. with funding provided by The Almanor Foundation’s Wildfire Fund, North Valley Community Foundation, and private donors. This project is administered by The Almanor Foundation.
