The Plumas Sun Fund

The Plumas Sun is a daily online, non-profit news publication that provides unbiased coverage by reputable journalists of local government, including the Plumas County Board of Supervisors, county government and the City of Portola.

We post information about upcoming events provided by local, state and federal organizations. Our nonprofit web-based platform is supported by donations, subscriptions and grant funding.

We work in cooperation with KQNY, a non-profit radio station based in Quincy. As our team of committed reporters expands and our funding stabilizes, we have increased out news coverage to include community events, features, vital statistics and public notices.

“Newspapers and press coverage are indispensable in rural communities, providing a vital platform for communication, connection and community development without them we risk losing our voice, identity and ability to thrive. The Almanor Foundation is pleased to be able to support this vital function in our community,” says Susan Bryner, The Almanor Foundation Director.
