P-Crew

Sierra Institute for Community and Environment’s mission is to promote healthy and sustainable forests and watersheds by investing in the well being of diverse rural communities and strengthening their participation in natural resource decision making and programs.

Sierra Institute’s P-CREW (Plumas Conservation Restoration, and Education in Watersheds) Youth Corps program aims to develop the next generation of  natural resource stewards through work experience, field-based education, personal growth, and professional development.

P-CREW is a five-week, paid summer program for high school students (ages 16 to 18 years old) that blends hands-on environmental restoration, outdoor education, and backcountry adventure. To reduce barriers to access, P-CREW provides crew members with all transportation, training, supplies, and meals needed to participate in this experience. Crew members earn approximately $2,100 while building valuable skills, exploring career paths, and contributing to the health of public lands in the Sierra Nevada.

Your donation to P-CREW fuels critical land stewardship in some of California’s most fire-prone regions. Our crews of diverse young leaders work hands-on to restore forests, reduce severe wildfire risk, and prepare the land for the return of good fire. Centered in the Feather River Watershed, this work protects vital water sources and strengthens community resilience. Every dollar you give helps train and pay youth to do real conservation work that matters—for the land, for our future, and for generations to come.
